The Writing Success Project is a TRIO Student Support Services program supporting first-generation college students who have financial need, and students with disabilities.

Students in the TRIO WSP receive help applying for scholarships, planning their transfer pathway, exploring careers, developing financial literacy, and connecting with an inspiring community of peers.

 

Events and Community

This spring semester we will have events to help you understand the steps in the transfer process. Come learn about the timeline for transfer, and what you can do this semester to explore your options and connect with the people and programs to help you on your way! Next up:

Transfer Workshop with UC TOP (Transfer Opportunity Program)

  • Monday, 4/28, 2:30-3:30 in Rosenberg 232. to let us know you're coming! Come meet a friendly advisor from the UC Transfer Opportunity Program to learn about what you can do now to set yourself on the pathway to the UC campus of your choice. Bring your questions!

Saving, Budgeting, and Credit: Join us in Spring 2025 for conversations about important financial topics with Victor Vazquez. He is a financial expert and was first-gen college student, and he knows how to make intimidating money issues approachable.

How to Make a Counseling Appointment

Our WSP Advisor  Zac says, "When I was in community college, it wasn鈥檛 until I met with counselors/advisors, and started seeking support in other ways, that I became successful in determining the path that best fit my interests."

Contact us to start the conversation about your career and major, and we will connect you with the experts on campus who can take your planning to the next level. 

Our Peer Mentors and staff can help you with the financial aid application (FAFSA or Dream Act). If you are unhoused or in an unstable housing situation, we may be able to connect you with resources and complete a form to help you access your financial aid. Scholarship Workshops

Spring semester is the time for scholarships! Join us to learn how to find the 麻花传媒沈芯语老师家访 scholarships, and how to write a strong personal statement and get letters of recommendation.

  • Tuesday, February 11, 2:00-3:00 in R232.  to let us know you plan to come.

We had a wonderful First-Gen Celebration Career Panel in November 2024 to celebrate the achievements of first-gen college students. Professionals who work in banking, human resources, culinary, biotech, and healthcare talked about their experiences as first-gen college students, and shared their advice about how to build a meaningful career.
